At MBC we believe true worship goes way beyond Sunday morning. Indeed, our desire is that the life of the church would be a living sacrifice to the Triune God of grace, just in the same way that our individual lives should become the “living sacrifices” that the Apostle Paul encouraged us all to be.
Worship of God is reflected from the way we treat our families, to how we love our neighbours & co workers, to the integrity we bring to the workplace. In its truest sense, all of life is an act of worship. So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
At our 10 am Sunday morning meetings, the most important thing for us is to meet with God. We call it being “Presence Centered”. That means we seek, hunger after, passionately worship and listen for His voice in our lives. The presence of God precedes the power of God. And the power of God changes everything. So we will always be pursuing His presence with us.
In practical terms, we try to balance our use of time in the meeting between explicit worship and practical Bible teaching. Stylistically, our live band seeks to honour the traditional hymns of the past while embracing contemporary hymns that emerge from God's moving in our current culture.
Recently in our meetings together we have introduced “Making Room for God”. What that means is that during our singing time we create space for God to speak through His people. We welcome spontaneous prayer, the reading of scripture, words & pictures meant to encourage, testimonies and passionate praise. Our guideline in “Making Room for God” is, “All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church.” 1 Corinthians 14:26.
Worship is at the core of everything we do at Milton Bible Church. Whatever the theme, the style, the rhythm or the form, one purpose remains uppermost. To praise and worship the living God with all our hearts, with all of our strength and with all of our souls and spirits.
