Bill Kubas
Deacon
I am a Deacon. I assist with food for life, maintenance, contracts and negotiations.
What is something God has taught you this year?
Patience. Have faith your prayers will be answered on the Lords time line not yours.
What is a verse that has inspired you lately?
"You whom I took from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest corners, saying to you, “You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off”; fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
- Isaiah 41:9-10

Mark Strickland
Lead Pastor
As Lead Pastor, I have the privilege of bringing vision and leadership to the church! I teach regularly on Sundays, plan for services and special ministry events, and bring direct leadership to our Connect Group Bible Studies. I enjoy working alongside our amazing staff, volunteers, and church leadership.
What is something God has taught you this year?
In January 2022 I was convicted by a verse, Luke 5:16 that speaks of Jesus withdrawing to a "lonely place". Over this past year God has reminded me of the importance of daily spending time in His Word, in prayer, and in quiet time.
What is a verse that has inspired you lately?
"Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known."
- Habakkuk 3:2
This verse has been shaping my thinking around both God’s blessing of MBC over the years, as well as our desire to see God continue to lead us in the days to come!

Jim DeMarsh
Pastor
I am privileged to serve at Milton Bible Church in three areas 1. Leadership Development; 2. Outreach and Evangelism (GO Teams); and 3. helping Newcomers to MBC get connected (Connecting Ministries). I am blessed to have amazing ministry teams to work with!
What is something God has taught you this year?
This year God has impressed on me the wonder of His Word, the Bible, and the riches of life in the Holy Spirit. It has been a year of allowing Him to speak into my life in a fresh and life-giving way. These days I am overwhelmed by His love and blessings, especially the blessing of my family life.
What is a verse that has inspired you lately?
"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! "

Matt Timpson
Elder & Administrator
I serve the church family of MBC as an elder, administrator, and in the areas of pastoral care and prayer.
What is something God has taught you this year?
This past year I have been reminded of the incredible importance of the people of God doing life together. The active, caring, moving body of Christ is a beautiful thing.
What is a verse that has inspired you lately?
In January of this year I stuck a post-it note on my office computer that says “Proverbs 3:5-6; Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths”. It has often reminded me this year that true wisdom and discernment comes only from the Lord.

Dave Nelson
Elder
Dave has two main roles at MBC. He's been an audio technician for almost as many years as he's attended, but more recently has been heading up the dedicated team of audio techs. What he enjoys most about it is that he is able to bring his technical skills alongside the musical skill of the musicians, allowing the entire team to enhance the worship environment.
His other role is an elder. The best part of this role is the group he gets to work with. Each elder has different skills and abilities, but collectively see God's hand at work! Dave would say the whole group together is greater than the sum of the parts and he believes that’s the way that God likes to work – He adds to the group what we cannot bring as individuals.
What is a favourite experience you've had at MBC?
"For me, my favourite experiences at MBC revolve around worship, so it’s hard to choose only one. But, if I had to choose only one favourite time at MBC, it would have to be a Friday night youth night that we had just after we moved into the Connect Centre. We had a large band, and big stage, lots of youth, and it was such an energized evening of worship. It was the type of evening that you wished that everyone who attended the church could have been there to experience! Those are my favourite experiences at MBC – when you don’t expect anything special and God shows up in a BIG way."
What is the best book you've read recently?
"I don’t get to read much, but the best book that I’ve recently read was ‘The Grave Robber’ by Mark Batterson. I’m sure that you don’t want a commentary on the book but …it’s about miracles. We all want to see miracles in our lives, but ironically we don’t want to be in a position that we need a miracle. One main point of the book was to seek after God, not after miracles, and often the miracles will follow."

As church secretary I assist with a variety of administration duties and help to keep the day-to-day life of Milton Bible Church running smoothly. I also provide admin assistance to Pastor Jim and Pastor Mark.
What is something God has taught you this year?
God has impressed on me that each one of us, from the least to the greatest, has something to give or offer others. Giving is such a blessing and allows us to reflect God’s generosity to those around us. It’s a beautiful way to give glory and praise to God.
What is a verse that has inspired you lately?
Well, I am a morning person, so I have found Psalm 143:8 such a beautiful and thoughtful way to begin a new day.
“Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.” - Psalm 143:8

Tori Cochrane
Family Ministries Director
My go to phrase is "if you're zero - thirty, I'm your girl." My role as family ministries director covers our Powerkidz program, Momentum Youth, and overseeing our Young Adult leadership team.
I get the privilege of walking along side all the younger generations at MBC as they grow in relationship with God. This means lots of Bible focused teaching and of course tons of games and fun along the way.
What is something God has taught you this year?
This has been a big year of change in my life. I graduated University, got married, and took on this big new role after some health struggles. God has taught me about miracles and the beauty of stillness along the way. Come find me on a Sunday and we can chat all about it!
What is a verse that has inspired you lately?
"Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” - Deuteronomy 31:6

What is a verse that has inspired you lately?

Carolyn Kubas
Food For Life Director
My role at MBC is the Coordinator of the Food for Life Program. Every Thursday from 10 to 2pm, the ministry team of over 20 volunteers help serve our community in need of food by organizing and sorting food donations given to us from Food for Life and other agencies. We also host an annual Christmas Dinner and other events during the year. Our mission is to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we give all that we have been given. We strive to intentionally connect with each person who comes to us and hope to be a blessing to all who we meet.
What is something God has taught you this year?
A big lesson that has been a constant theme this year has been patience and timing. Knowing that God's plan is not always "our plan". Knowing that He paves our paths in mysterious ways, and derails us into a season for a reason. Working through this in the consistent detours of life has been a challenge.
What is a verse that has inspired you lately?
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens..." - Ecclesiastes 3:1
God has set out the time for everything. This verse and the remaining chapter are a great reminder of this because every "season" will challenge our faith and draw us closer to depend on Him - in both good and bad seasons.

My role at MBC is Leader of the Ladies Ministry! I enjoy planning events that bring fellowship and knowledge of God to the ladies of our congregation and community. Creating meaningful relationships is my passion!
What is something God has taught you this year?
I’ve learned that God is in control no matter what’s going on around me. I’ve learned to pray more and lean on Him for guidance.
What is a verse that has inspired you lately?
"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen."

Deacon
I am the Deacon of Building/facility Maintenance. I try and keep the building in the best condition possible in the most fiscally responsible way.
What is something God has taught you this year?
God has taught me (again) that "things" happen in God's time not when I think or want "things" to happen and His timing is always right.
What is a verse that has inspired you lately?
"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."

The warm and inviting atmosphere from day one at MBC. Also, feeling the love and support of all the staff here, everyone wants to see each other thrive and succeed in all aspects of ministry.
What is the best book you've read recently?
Haven’t read many books (I want to read more) but one of the best book I have read recently is Desiring God by John Piper.

Regina Nakamura

Amen."
- Ephesians 3:20-21

Bryan Mesquita
- 2 Peter 3:8-9
